About CME LEAF

The CME LEAF program works through assessments by qualified consultants to identify efficiency improvements and cost saving opportunities. LEAF contributes 75% of the cost of the assessment. There is also an optional initial plant visit for energy assessments - free of charge.

If a company chooses to apply for LEAF, the consultant of its choice will carry out an efficiency audit with Energy, Productivity (LEAN) or Environmental focus. The three types of assessments are listed below:

Types of Assessments

  1. Productivity (LEAN) Assessment - The Lean Assessments are well suited to small and medium-sized manufacturers looking to maximize the efficiency of your manufacturing processes. Our qualified consultant will identify opportunities to enhance productivity and eliminate waste. You will receive an action plan to launch lean processes throughout your business. The results will also help you leverage funded programs to offset the cost of productivity upgrades.

  2. Energy Assessment - An Energy Assessment offers significant cost savings and will identify energy efficiency gains. A qualified consultant will conduct a complete energy consumption assessment and identify opportunities to conserve energy and boost energy efficiency. LEAF will also assist you in applying for the NSPI Commercial & Industrial Custom Program to help offset the cost of additional energy conservation upgrades. In addition, LEAF will provide a free preliminary walkthrough to gauge which opportunities are available.

  3. Environmental Assessment - Greening your products and eliminating waste from the manufacturing process benefits the environment, builds your reputation as a socially responsible firm, and builds customer loyalty. A qualified professional will take you through a complete review of waste streams and environmental impacts and create an action plan to reduce your environmental footprint. LEAF will offer you a business case for implementation along with advice on available funding programs.
